Warm Hands, Warm Heart
It's that time of year again. The time of year when you wake up, check the weather, and grab your car keys on your way out the door, not even giving your poor bicycle a second glance. Sound familiar? It doesn't have to! Why is it that at the first sign of winter, we all abandon our bicycles and opt for our cars or public transportation instead?
Many people will answer simply, "it's too cold!" Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to stay warm on your bike even in the winter time. Other people might say safety is their main concern. While i don't condone going out for a bike ride in a blizzard, your bike, when outfitted properly, can handle more than you may give it credit for.
In this lens, we're going to go over some tips and tricks to help you and your bicycle survive the winter...together!
Warm Hands, Warm Heart
Now that we have our face covered, lets move down to the hands.
I have found, your hands are the hardest part of your body to keep warm. I had tried tons of gloves before I found the right combination. For me, the Ibex glove liners, coupled with Pearl Izumi's Lobster Gloves, keeps my hands nice and toasty.
I had found originally with just the lobster gloves, I was having the same issue many have with the scarf over the nose- my hands were getting sweaty, and then as they got wet, they got cold again! I was so frustrated until I found the Ibex glove liners. These are made of 95% wool, so it wicks away the moisture from your hands. With the lobster gloves on top, your hands will be so warm you'll almost forget you are outside!
Below you will find the links for the glove liners, as well as a few different types of lobster gloves.

Bicycling Is A Great Thing for Health and Fitness
Introduced in the 19th Century there would be few who are not familiar with the penny farthing. This had a very large front wheel and a very small back one with the seat over the front wheel. It looked awkward but many found they could successfully use them for transport. Pictured alongside the penny farthing is an ancient push bike with a larger rear wheel to a smaller front one.
Someone must have thought the difference in sizes made for better propulsion or something. Thankfully others woke up to the folly of this and contemporary bikes are streamlined and operated with gears and have all the necessary safety and other things on them.
Before we got so used to motor cars and driving everywhere the bicycle was the transport of choice aside from horses, which required maintenance and feeding, The bike can live on its own without much input from it owner. It can be parked anywhere, doe snot make a noise, does not buck and throw, unless you do something wrong, and, of course, its great for health. The English countryside would once see people of all persuasions cycling through villages and cities. The same could be said of the USA and other countries like Australia. But the capital bike riding nation of them all is definitely China.
There is no pollution from pedal power so it is great for the environment and as far as health is concerned what better way is there to get fit than to ride a bike? Many do mountain bike riding, others do races and rallies, others still just ride for pleasure.
Hardly a child gets to the teenage years without being introduced to the bike. They grow up with the experience of knowing that from their own body they can get where they want to go easily and usually with a lot of fun, to say nothing of the exercise gained through pedal power.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
There are so many ways to do that
Its not only sports and things that get you out in winter but the landscape has changed. Everything has a different look about it and the photography now is just tremendous. There might not be too many animals around because mostly they will sheltering or hibernating but in a few weeks they will all be back as Mother nature shed her winter blues and takes on the look of a newly created world.
